Q. How do I learn to use the CV-2100 Companion software?
A.

The best way to learn how to use the CV-2100 Companion software is to read read the software user's guide. However, the user's guide assumes that yo understand the basic operation of your CV-2100. Therefore, if you do have a fundamental understanding of your CV-2100 and its functionality, we suggest you start with the CV-2100 user's manual.

Q. The CV-2100 Companion software can not connect to my CV-2100.
A.
  • Verify the Remote Host AND Remote Port on the Connection Tab under the Options >> Settings menu match the IP address and port number of the CV-2100.
  • Check with your company's IT department to verify that the selected IP address does not conflict with another computer or networked device.
  • Check with your company's IT department to verify that the selected Default Gateway and Sub Net Mask are correct for your local area network.
  • If you are connecting your CV-2100 directly to your PC (i.e. not using a hub or switch), be sure you using a Ethernet cross cable such as the OP-42275 cross cable available from Keyence. Do NOT using a standard Ethernet cable.
  • Verify that no other device or software is currently connected to your CV-2100 (the CV-2100 can only connect with one device at a time).
  • Try cycling power on the CV-2100 and restarting the CV-2100 Companion software.
  • Try replacing the Ethernet cable connecting the CV-2100 to your local area network.
  • Verify that the cable you are using is CAT5 or better if required by your local area network.
  • Verify that there isn't a network issue with your computer by installing the CV-2100 Companion software on another computer and attempting to connect.

Q. Can I save my measurement an Access 2000 database instead of the default Access 97 format?
A.

Yes. When installed, your software will use the Access 97 format for all new measurement databases. Although this format can be converted by Access 2000 when opened, you can still baseline your databases as Access 2000 new format by following these steps:

  • locate the "private" folder found under the directory where the CV-2100 Companion software was installed (normally 'C:\Program Files\CV-2100_Companion')
  • under this folder find three files:
    • "do_not_modify.mdb": used by the CV-2100 Companion as the baseline database used when creating a new database
    • "97_do_not_modify.mdb": the Access 97 format of the baseline database
    • "2000_do_not_modify.mdb": the Access 2000 format of the baseline database
  • delete the file "do_not_modify.mdb"
  • rename "2000_do_not_modify.mdb" as "do_not_modify.mdb"
  • any new databases created by the CV-2100 Companion will now use the Access 2000 format

Q. During data acquisition mode, I receive the error, "An error occurred attempting to process data. The CV trigger may be too fast for this software or the incoming data is corrupt. Data acquisition has been disabled."
A.

The most common source of this error is your computer's inability to keep up with the incoming measurement/image data from the CV-2100:

  • be sure there are no other process intensive applications running on your computer during data acquisition mode
  • reduce the trigger frequency of the CV-2100

Another possible cause of this error message is instructing the CV-2100 Companion software save/display Screen Captures of all failed parts while instructing the CV-2100 to output part image data:

  • display part image output from the CV-2100

It is also possible to see this error message if you change the Ethernet outputs settings of your CV-2100 without creating a new database file. All databases are created using the expected parameters from the CV-2100. If the Ethernet output settings are changed in any way, a new database must be created:

  • create a new database file and restart data acquisition

Q. Where do I find my databases after I create them?
A.

All database files are saved under the "databases" folder under the directory where the CV-2100 Companion software was installed (normally 'C:\Program Files\CV-2100_Companion').

Q. Where do I find my part images that are save during saved during data acquisition mode?
A.

All part images files are saved under the "databases\images" folder under the directory where the CV-2100 Companion software was installed (normally 'C:\Program Files\CV-2100_Companion').

Q. How do I associate saved part image files to collected measurement data?
A.

The Image_File field in the all Access databases holds the name of the part image file that corresponds to that particular record.

Q. Can I have the CV-2100 Companion software customized for my exact needs?
A.

Yes. In addition to providing custom solutions, Conquest Consulting can customize the CV-2100 Companion software to meet your current needs.

Q. Can I open my database files from the CV-2100 Companion software?
A.

No. The database files must be opened from Microsoft Access 97 or greater.

Q. Part images and screen captures are chopped off when displayed.
A.

Your system is most likely using Large fonts. Change to small fonts.
